Update RSSread to 1.4

RSSread 1.4 fixes a bug that effects the layout of posts when viewed with no shortening

It is down to a little spelling mistake, that I haven’t noticed before now.
In three places i used “nr” instead of “rn” which caused single new lines not to show up, whereas double new lines (or more) would not display the proper number of new lines.

In this release another bug is fixed in posts when viewed with shortening enabled.
This bug only became apparent when the previous bug was fixed, and it is to do with some of the for loops in the shortenPost() function.

You can download the updated version from:
http://downloads.roganty.co.uk/?get=/rss_read
-Or-
http://www.phpclasses.org/browse/package/2831.html

Rename your original rss_read.class.php as something else, for example old_rss_read.class.php and then extract the new rss_read.class.php file into the same folder.
You will now need to open both files in a text editor of your choice, and start copying any of the variables that you changed from the old file into the new one.
Now save the new file and close the text editor.
Browse to the page that includes/uses RSSread to verify that your settings are still the same.
Weldone, you have now updated RSSread, and moved all of your settings over to the new version.
If there are any differences, you will need to double check that the variables in the new file have been over writen with the variables from the old file.

Driving – Tenth Lesson

Oh! Twenty hours of driving now…
And still no sign of taking my theory, or hazard tests, a bit more theory and hazard practice and ill book them

Onto driving now…
I am certainly getting better! 🙂 practiced parallel parking, left reverse, turn in the road, and emergency stop :phew:
Parallel parking could of gone better! the emergency stop was near perfect. As was the turn in the road and left reverse, but i do need to improve my observations on the last two.

Pulling back out side the house was a little hair-raising. I’m not going to say anymore, but lets just say the neighbours car needed to change its underwear! 😉

Bye for now

P.S.
I didn’t hit their car, but it was damned close, another foot or two…

New site style

This is just a quick post to say that there is a new style available on my website.
It is called Boxes (click to view style) and uses the same style that i have used on other sites and projects

Enjoy
🙂

Edit:
This option is no longer available!

Driving – Ninth Lesson

18 hours of driving already!?!?!?

This Monday practiced more parallel parking, then went onto bay parking, which is not going to be something I’m tested on if i take my test at Southmead, but i will need to know how…

I’m going to have to put in for my theory and hazard soon, it’ll probably be before, or soon after easter.

by my calculations, and taking the average length of time to pass of 46 hours of driving (with an instructor) i will be driving by the first/second week of July.

More next week
*beep*beep*

Driving – Seventh Lesson

Ive done seven lessons already!!! Thats 14 hours of driving, and I’m getting better.
Drove away from the house, and onto the Portway, and it was nice! My driving instructor said that he enjoyed it!

I reversed around a left corner three times, that was fun, I don’t think I hit the kerb, or the pavement, and I don’t think that i swung out too far.

Also did a bit more practicing emergency stops, four of them as a matter of fact.
On the third stop, the car skidded, and there was a little bit of smoke drift past the front of the car.
On the second circuit i saw the tyre marks left on the road, and they were going of to the side of the road.
Also practiced turns in the road

More next week
😉

Driving – Sixth Lesson

Did more turns in the road, and this time they were all completed in three manoeuvres – and I did not stall on one of them (at least I don’t think I did! I might of once or twice though)

This time I did get up to 50mph, but i stayed in fourth gear – maybe next time!

This lesson i just drove around, practiced holding the car on the clutch on a hill, and just letting the car roll forwards and back bringing it to a standstill

More next week
Stayed tuned!

Driving – Fifth Lesson

I drove away from the house.
Went in the opposite direction to the one that we normal take, so we went onto the Portway (a4) instead of through Shire.
I nearly got up to 50mph (80km/h), I think it was closer to 47/48mph (75/77km/h), but I stayed in fourth gear – should of gone up to fifth – then i would of hit 50!

I did a couple of “turns in the road” (aka 3 point turn), practicing clutch control, and quick steering, and moving slow
Practiced a bit of emergency stopping, i wasn’t braking hard enough!

Number of times stalled: lost count! Not really, just couldn’t be bothered to count them! (less than 6! 😉

Style Sheet Switcher

I have implemented a style sheet switcher called UDASSS into my website
What this little gem does is set a cookie so that when the style sheet is changed all of the other pages use the same style sheet.

The change only happens when the alternate style is chosen from the Change Style page

On one of the alternate styles, there is a couple of areas that don’t have styles, but I am working on them, and will update the style sheets when I have finished.

Edit:
This feature is no longer available!

Driving – Fourth Lesson

I drove home!!!!!! 😀

Erm…cant really say much about the rest, it was just driving around, practicing more junctions.
Got up into fourth a couple of times, max speed 30mph (just over shh 😉 )
Didn’t stall going through Shire, which was good (phew!)
But i did get a little mixed up turning left at the traffic lights (stalled! oops)
Did too much steering pulling up in front of the house (oops)

Oh well
I’m improving
Driving away from home next week 😮
