Nearly!

I’ve nearly got a Sunday off!
For the first time in a couple of months, I am only going into work for the afternoon, and that is for home shopping.
But now that we have a few more drivers, this should be the last time I am on home shopping for a little while.
I’m not holding my breath! But hopefully from tomorrow I will not be asked in on my days off to cover home shopping, or to go out in the vans during my shift.

This is day three of December, and the decorations are going to be put up 10 days early! They are normally put up twelve days before Christmas, but this year mum has decided that she wants to get into the Christmas spirit before her works Christmas party.

Next week I’m going for my department Christmas party, its up at the Swan Inn in Tockington, at the same place we went to last year.

Lets see what I can do to make my website more Christmassy 😉

Two Years Today

Ok, a weird title that, but two years ago on the 14th of August 2004 I started work at ASDA.

And I thought I wouldn’t be staying there for long! Oh well!
Circumstances change, I’m going to see what my options are before making any decisions.

I’ve been quite busy the past couple of weeks, which is why I haven’t put up any more holiday news yet.
In other news, I asked to become a home shopping driver 2/3rd August and was sent out in the van on my own on that Friday (4th).
I then had a driving assessment the following Wednesday. A bit backwards, if you ask me.
I failed it! The assessor said it was due to lack of driving experience.

Don’t worry, I’ll be trying again…!

The strange behaviour of customers…

I was on the checkouts queue-busting today, and I started chatting to a customer who was buying a load of apples.

He said that he fills balloons up with the apple seeds, and then blows them up with helium, and then lets them go.
Then when they reach 15,000 feet the balloon pops and spreads the seeds.

I let him ramble on as he was saying he is responsible for something like 80,000 odd apple trees, and that there is about 12 seeds per apple, and how one night he left the helium on by accident, and how he has started to make cider out of the apples. blah, blah, blah.

That got me thinking. What are his chances that the balloons pop? That the seeds are spread over land? or water? and how many of them actually germinate?

If two thirds of the Earth is water, then about 25,000 apple seeds reach terra-firma.
Lets round that down to 20,000 to account for balloons not bursting.
At worst 1% of the apple seeds will germinate, at best 100% will germinate.

So if 50% actually germinate then that is 10,000 new apple trees. Only a 1 in 8, or 12.5% success rate.

Poor bloke….

Still Here…Just!

Christmas is only a few days away now, Ive only just finished Christmas shopping

As I’m typing this up there is the sound of sellotape being unwound from the roll and wrapped two or three times around some ones or others present(s).

The lack of updates has been partly due to the fact that I am spending so much time at work and other projects, like the infamous new project, and IMfriends which is still in alpha testing, and probably won’t ever see the light of day.

Today/tomorrow/Friday (depending on your view of things) will be rammed at work as it is payday, and there is still two days of Christmas shopping days left.
