The Great Car Hunt Part 2

What a frustrating day!

We only looked at two cars! Two other cars had already been sold, and three others didn’t answer the phone.

Car one, a white N reg 1.2 petrol Renault Clio. It looked alright. The engine had a slight rattle, and the rear window wiper was missing. 5/10.

The second car was a M reg 1.5 Vauxhall Corsa diesel. The engine was in sound condition, and was clean and tidy inside and out. But it did have a spot of rust on the rear off-side door, and the milage was high, about 90,000 miles. 7/10, it would of been higher if it didn’t have the rust, and the milage was lower.

So, no car this week. I will have next Saturday off, and hope that we get to see more cars.

The Great Car Hunt Part 1

The hunt for my first car properly started off today with me and dad going around looking at three cars.

The first one was an M reg red Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 petrol. It wasn’t in that bad a condition, but the inside could of done with a clean, there was an oil leak from somewhere, and the exhaust rattled. 7/10 possible, if there is no other cars.

The next car we went to see was a P reg Renault Clio 1.9 diesel. The body work looked tatty, and had paint flaking off of the rear bumper, it had been painted. The engine needed some major work doing to it, for example, the radiator needs replacement, the sump was thick with oil, part of the frame underneath was bent. And to top that off you could see the wires in the spare tyre. Nope.

The third car, was a R reg red Renault Clio 1.2 petrol. The body work looked fine, the engine was in working order and clean. But what has put us off is the fact that it looks like it has been in an accident. The boot was a little crooked, with a gap between the rear right lights that you could put your fingers between, and no such gap on the other side. Also, the rear offside (left) wing was dented in above the wheel. 2/10. It would of been a 9/10 if it didn’t have the body work problems.

Brands Hatch

Me and dad went to Brands Hatch on Sunday 20th as VIP guests of one of the sponsors of the #11 car in the legends car racing

We got a nice box on the start/finish line with free food and drinks all day.
We had a buffet at the team “garage” in the paddock, and got to talk to the driver, Simon Belcher, and the commentator. If we wanted to, we could of gone down to the pit lane and the tower in the middle of the circuit.

My favourite race of the day was the Pickup Truck racing

We saw several cars spin off the track, and one big(ish) accident involving two cars.
It was during the MG racing the car #19 spun around (somehow. i just saw him facing the other direction) then car #99 hit him just behind the drivers door. It was just a glancing blow, the only damage car #19 had was a dent behind the drivers door.
Car #99 ended up in the gravel with the front drivers corner re-shaped!
The driver of car #99 walked out, while the driver of #19 was taken out on a spinal board. The rescue crews had the roof off the car.

Other races that went on during the day were:
Formula Woman
MG Owners Club Racing
Ginetta Junior

From the MotorSport Vision website

One race that I would like to go back to watch is the Truck Racing on November the 4th and 5th
British Truck Racing Association

Two Years Today

Ok, a weird title that, but two years ago on the 14th of August 2004 I started work at ASDA.

And I thought I wouldn’t be staying there for long! Oh well!
Circumstances change, I’m going to see what my options are before making any decisions.

I’ve been quite busy the past couple of weeks, which is why I haven’t put up any more holiday news yet.
In other news, I asked to become a home shopping driver 2/3rd August and was sent out in the van on my own on that Friday (4th).
I then had a driving assessment the following Wednesday. A bit backwards, if you ask me.
I failed it! The assessor said it was due to lack of driving experience.

Don’t worry, I’ll be trying again…!

#958

I came home from work yesterday and there was one of those “sorry you were out” cards left by the royal mail.
Went to pick up the parcel this morning.

The box was a little crushed, upon cutting through the tape holding the lid closed, I found the painting to be in perfect condition.
Apart from the fact that inside the bubble wrap there was something rattling about inside, it was one of the pegs that holds the frame together. Its fixed now!

I’ll post up some pictures when I get my digital camera back.

Shameless Plug

This is a shameless plug for two other websites that I have running under the roganty.co.uk domain.

The first is devl.roganty.co.uk and is my development website where I place my scripts and programs for download.

The second is linux.roganty.co.uk Linux Links and I just launched it today. It is where I will place links for the Linux OS, and I will place my own thoughts and experiences of using Linux.

I’m back!

I am!

The weather was better this year, thou we did have a couple of rainy nights, and we did get a rainy day or two during the last week.

We ended up spending two nights in Spain. It was the second night that we had a thunder storm. it only lasted about 2 or 3 hours, but before that we could see lightening lighting up the sky, but we couldn’t hear the thunder.
Spain was also the hottest part of the holiday, we passed a garage and the sign said that the temperature was 40C.

We then traveled across France towards the Mediterranean, and stayed in a campsite near Montpelier. We then started to head north, crossed the Millau Viaduct.
Then we went back to the west coast to Bordeaux, and then travelled further north into Brittany, where it got a bit cooler.
We then headed towards the north coast of Brittany to a campsite that we visited last year. We stayed for 4 nights.
On the Saturday we moved to a campsite that was just 15 minutes from the ferry port in Roscoff.

I’ll post more about the holiday during the next few weeks, and I will find some links to the campsites that we visited.

More later.

Just a Quick Post

This is just a quick post to say good bye, and see you in two weeks.

We are very close to going, just need to check the traffic along the motorways, and that is it!
We are off for two weeks.

See ya

Getting ready for hols…

Yep, its that time of the year again!
On Sunday evening, me and dad set sail to Santander from Plymouth. It will be a 20 hour crossing, and we will get to Santander about 12noon on Monday.
That will be the start of our two week camping holiday in France.

Yes, I know that Santander is in Spain, but we will only be staying one night in Spain.

This past week has been hectic for dad as he has been getting the car ready for the holiday. He has changed the air, oil, and petrol (its actually a diesel car!) filter, and has replaced the radiator.
The only thing that hasn’t been sorted is the rear suspension, which sinks down if anything heavier than a wet tissue is placed in the boot.

He has also got some stuff down from the attic.
Meanwhile….I have been carrying as normal. I have dug out last years Euros (€72.91) and have brought extra Euros (so has dad).

If I don’t post again before leaving,
See you in two weeks.

An Update

Well, its July 7, one year after the London bombing. I unfortunately missed the two minutes silence at noon.

In other news mum and my sister went off on their holidays on Saturday (1st July) leaving just me and dad on our own.
That weekend and Monday and Tuesday were hot, with the temperature reaching 30C (about 86F).
I have my computer lying on its side with the (other) side off just to get some cool air circulating. On Monday I had a fan pointing at it, and when I moved the fan away it froze. Since, I haven’t had any problems with it freezing.

Wednesday it was drizzling, and during the night it absolutely pissed down. During Thursday it was raining in the morning, and by the evening it was beginning to dry out.
The ford in Henbury was flooded, and nearly went up to the entrance of Crow Lane.
The bottom deck of the bus got flooded out.

On Sunday evening I drove on my own for the first time!
I went down to Clevedon via the A370 to Congresbury, then the B3133 to Clevedon.
I came back by the motorway.

I think that is all
