The house is still standing, and so are we!

Ok, it’s been a good couple of months since I have last posted on my blog, but that’s because I have only been able to snatch a few minutes a week on the Internet at my mum’s house.
But we now have the Internet installed at our house, so here I am!

Not much as changed with the house since the last post. The kitchen is still not finished, but we do have a sink, and I have been painting the ceiling! I’ll post up photo’s of progress on flickr soon.

We have managed to strip the wallpaper in the hallway, and have wallpapered half-way up the stairs already! It’s only lining paper, but it’s much better than the pink woodchip that was on the walls!
And again expect photo’s soon!

Since having Internet installed at our house, my girlfriend has been addicted to Facebook. In fact she on my computer right now, and all I can hear is the music of FarmVille, and the occasional pop of the chat window!

Building Kitchens!

Ok, it’s been a while since I last updated my blog, and it has also been a while since I’ve been on my computer!

The progress with the kitchen has been slow but steady, but, the sink is in!!!

On Saturday we were finally able to wash up downstairs in the kitchen for the first time!

Today I’m going to replace the wiring to the sockets in the kitchen and dining room and wire in a new socket for the washing machine.
I will also hopefully wire in in an additional socket into the small bedroom so that I can finally move my computer to our house!

I have uploaded some photo’s to my flickr account, I don’t have any photo’s of the sink in place, but there is one where the worktop is marked out ready to be cut for the sink.

That’s all for now!

Destroying Kitchens!

Oh what fun!!
The past week we have been ripping the old kitchen out of our new house!

The amount of plaster that came off of the walls is shocking! In some places we have managed to get right back to the brick wall!

We have attempted to re-plaster some of the smaller holes, which went ok, but we are now stuck with the larger expanses!

To make matters worse, we have the new kitchen cabinets lying in flat-pack form on the dining room floor, and we have our new fridge freezer being delivered tomorrow, and no kitchen for it to go into! Lol!

I have plenty of photo’s but I have had no time to get onto the Internet to upload them.

I have only come home to eat dinner, and nick more tools, and have only had about half hour on my computer a day! (Which is more than my girlfriend thinks I should be on here for! Lol!)

To top it all off, I have no car, as it is making a really loud grinding noise. We hope it just another wheel bearing, but it sounds nothing like last time!

But it’s not all bad news, as we have managed to get the lounge/front room painted, and we have a dining room table and chairs! We have also got a bed!

But we have no mattress, so we’re sleeping in a sleeping bag on an air mattress.

But it has been so hot at night we have just ended up on top of the sleeping bag!

It’s time to go now, we’re only here to look for a spanner and to check the delivery time for our fridge freezer!
More soon

Another Year, Another Birthday!

I’m getting old now, I’m going to start drawing a pension soon if I carry on like this! Lol!

Yep, as you may of guessed from the title, I have recently had a birthday, it was on Saturday, and I am now 23!

The day started off alright, I opened my presents, and then I got a phone call from my mum, who was on holiday at the time in Cyprus.
Then my girlfriend came over and took me out for the day for a picnic on the Cheddar downs.

Boy was that some trek! First we had to walk up the road to a path, and then we had to walk up a load of steps, which would of been alright, but we were carrying all the food, and my presents!

Luckily it didn’t rain, and, even though the sun wasn’t out, it was warm, and it wasn’t all that windy either!
After the picnic we spent an hour or two in the gorge going in and out of all the shops.

And here’s the mandatory present list:

And now some news on my car.

On Sunday dad took me on a guided tour of the innards of my cars engine, we had towed the car to his work Friday evening, and he was working on it all Saturday. The photos can be seen in the usual places, on my website, and on flickr.

From what dad can see at the moment, it just looks like the valves need replacing, and because its been taken off, so does the head gasket.
But first dads got to make sure the cylinder head hasn’t been warped.

That’s it for now
Till next time!

Schmap

I got an email from Schmap Monday saying that

one of your photos has been short-listed for inclusion in the
fourth edition of our Schmap Bristol Guide, to be published
mid-November 2007.

I got the email Monday, but I didn’t read it until today.

I have submitted the photo, one of the ones from Bristol Zoo, to the final selection phase.

Now I just have to wait, I’ll be sent a message when the guide is released to let me know if my photo has been included in the Bristol edition.

Woohoo! 😀 I cant wait!

I didn’t decide to stay on holiday!

I should start this with a link to my holiday photos on flickr.
I know that its been over a month since i got back off holiday, and i haven’t posted anything on my blog!
But I’m going to now!

I was going to start this post with details of our holiday, but I’ll now leave that for another post!

What has caused the long delay on posting? I don’t know really, but I think its time!
Ive been busy at work, and when I’m not at work I’m with my girlfriend, and I just don’t seem to have the time left to do anything else!
But I have managed to build myself a second computer! I am going to be using as a file-cum-web-cum-print-server.

A couple of years ago I brought a Via EPIA Mini-ITX motherboard from www.mini-itx.com which I was intending to put inside my old radio alarm clock.
I did put it inside the radio alarm clock, but I never got around to actually installing an operating system onto it, and ever using it, so its been sat on my desk gathering dust.

I’ve been wanting to change my main computer for something a little faster, and I thought now would be a good time to do something with the little computer!
So I brought a case, installed Fedora 7 onto it, and now I’m just trying to get file sharing going between it and an aging Intel Celeron (333MHz) via wireless, and two other relatively old computers (both AMD’s, a K6 500MHz and an Athlon 850MHz)

I’ve just brought 1Gb of memory for it, as when I initially got i, I only brought 256Mb for it!

I’ve already got the web server running, and webmin, now I just need to install the printer, and its practically done!

I’m typing this post up using the new computer!

I’ll post more details soon!
Until next time!
Bye!

Edit: I’ve fixed the type of my Mini-ITX motherboard to a VIA EPIA series motherboard, and I have updated the link to point to the correct url (http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/mainboards/motherboards.jsp?motherboard_id=21)
